SCADA’s service is ideal for schools who use collapsed curriculum focus days.
Age range – Yr7 to Yr13 or older, with versions of most lessons suitable for each age group.
Class size – usually individual classes, but also comfortable delivering to whole year groups (400 6th Formers the biggest so far! Kudos to Ivybridge Community College for that accolade).
6th Form briefs – bespoke sessions based on student questions regarding alcohol, other drugs, sexual consent/harassment etc., sent in advance by their school, answered honestly using highly credible & evidence-based sources (see ‘Links’ page). Harm reduction strategies & signposting to credible & respected websites for further info included in these KS5 lessons.
Alcohol awareness – examines what alcohol is, why teens may try/drink alcohol, the behavioural changes following its consumption & risks associated with underage/inexperienced drinking. Harm reduction strategies shared. Versions suitable for Yr9 – 11.
Drugs awareness – identifies some of the other drugs & substances pupils may be exposed to. Examines the effects & risks associated with consumption of unidentified powders, pills, crystals or herbal compounds. Harm reduction information is included in lessons to KS4 (& KS5 detailed above). Versions suitable for Yr9 – 11.
Substance misuse – combines elements of alcohol & other drugs lessons. (Suitable for 100 minutes lessons only). Versions suitable for Yr9 – 11.
Youth Produced Sexual Imagery – examines the risks, consequences & long-term effects of ‘sexting’. Shares protective factors & identifies values expected in a healthy relationship. Versions suitable for Yr9 – 13.
Healthy Lifestyle Choices – examines the 5 Healthy Lifestyle choices, with particular attention on alcohol, tobacco & vaping. Suitable for Yr7 & 8.
Cyber-bullying – identifies harmful online behaviours, impact factors & consequences to both the bully & their target & resilience strategies when experiencing bullying. Versions suitable for KS3 & 4.
Racism & misogyny – role models, respect & resilience – can positive environments be found online? Examines the impact on young internet users when accessing harmful online material, including the role toxic influencers play. Versions suitable for KS3 & 4.
Personal Safety – examines what personal safety is, where it is used, signs of aggression from others, what is classed as a weapon, how to protect yourself & strategies available to improve personal safety. Versions suitable for KS3, 4 & 5.
Lesson length – one hour is most common, occasionally 100 minutes, but can be tailored to meet the individual needs of each school/college within reason. Bespoke lessons can be developed by request.
